Operation SIS: Police Apprehend 16 Suspected Terrorists in Abuja Crackdown

The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) conducted a successful operation on Saturday, January 20, parading sixteen suspects who were terrorizing Bwari Area Council in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and other parts of the country.

Two of the suspects, Idris Isiaku and Dahiru Salihu, were apprehended by the IGP Intelligence Response Team (IRT) following the launch of the Special Intervention Squad (SIS) by Inspector General of Police Kayode Egbetokun, aimed at eradicating terrorism in the FCT.

The suspects, claiming to be farmers and security guards in Bwari, admitted to using their positions to monitor residents, particularly the affluent ones, and subsequently informing their accomplices in the bush before carrying out kidnappings. They disclosed receiving payment for their operations.

During the Abuja parade, Force Public Relations Officer ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi emphasized that the arrests were in response to the urgent need for heightened security in the nation’s capital, where incidents of kidnapping and killings have been on the rise, especially in the Bwari community since late last year.

Adejobi credited the success of the operation to the launch of the Special Intervention Squad (SIS), comprising highly trained personnel equipped with advanced technology and resources at the Force Headquarters. He asserted the force's unwavering commitment to combating crimes and criminality across the country.

The Force PRO highlighted the recovery of various types of ammunition and valuables during the operations, urging the public, especially landlords and caretakers, to exercise caution when hiring security guards.

Additionally, the notorious Abuja kidnapper, Chinaza Phillip, was paraded on a stretcher after being handed over to the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police command. Phillip was arrested by police operatives from the Kaduna State Police Command on Thursday.
